Essex Kitchen and Whole Home Renovation

Essex Kitchen and Whole Home Renovation

a Space for Guests that you can be proud of

The Problem:

Our clients were dealing with a chilly three-season space abutting their kitchen. They wanted to increase the functionality and extend their kitchen for hosting large gatherings. They also had a 1,200-square-foot guest wing of their home that wasn’t functioning well for family and guests staying with them.

The Solution:

Working closely with our clients, we identified their pain points and developed a scope of work that aligned with their vision and budget for the project. The guest wing renovation focused heavily on relocating all the walls on the interior of the space to allow optimal flow and functionality for their guests.

We optimized space for three luxurious bathrooms, two large bedrooms, and a dedicated laundry space, including custom cabinetry with adequate storage and working area. This was achieved with multiple structural changes and total re-plumbing and rewiring of the home.

In the kitchen extension, we raised the ceiling, insulated the concrete slab, and centered the space around a custom island with large granite countertop overhangs on three sides to make entertaining a breeze. To take full advantage of the water views and optimize natural light, we replaced a small french door and small windows with a large three-panel Marvin slider.

Adjacent to the kitchen, the mudroom area featured a custom bench and fully functional walk-in pantry.

DOWNTOWN GEM IS TRANSFORMED

Historic Whole-Home Renovation in Essex

The new homeowners of the historic House came into the renovation process just wanting to update the Kitchen and Owner’s Bath but ended up touching on almost every room in the house.

The Process

The farmhouse kitchen that came with the home was not the transitional style that our homeowners wanted, so we took the room down to the studs and created a chef inspired entertaining space. The original owner’s bath had a freestanding  jetted tub right in the middle of the room, making the layout awkard and cramped.  We replaced and shifted the original tub with a beautiful soaking tub, created a dual zone shower, and installed new cabinetry for storage galore in their owner’s suite.

Our designer guided the homeowners through designing the right cabinet layout for the kitchen and the bathroom, the material choices and selections for tile, light fixtures, and all the elements that brought our client’s personal style together for a truly cohesive look.

Vibrant Whole Home Renovation

BEFORE AND AFTER

Vibrant Kitchen + Modern Home Remodel

This house was the definition of a fixer upper. Carpet in the bathroom, dark wood paneling in the living and dining rooms, and a kitchen that was made for one. Together with the homeowners we designed a beautiful, vibrant space for their young family to come home too.

The Process

In between the living room and the dinning room was a two-sided stone fireplace that was way outdated. The homeowners choose to keep it, but turned it into a single sided wood burning fireplace to keep the living room cozy.

The kitchen was taken down to it’s studs and reconfigured for creating an open concept layout. A large island was added and countertop to ceiling yellow tiles were added for a big punch of color.

The bathrooms were renovated with tile floors, floating vanities, and a more natural color palette.

Before and After Whole Home Transformation

BEFORE AND AFTER

A Complete Transformation

The original 1500 sq ft. house was built as a duplex, with each half of the house having a living room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. When it was purchased it was transformed into a modern, beautiful single-family home.

The Process

Taken down to the studs this home received a completely new floor plan, plus a 1000 sq. ft. addition to add on a master suite, mudroom, plus additional bedroom. This little house was in desperate need of renovation. The design team touched every inch of the space.

The modern transitional design choices are a signature style and they loved adding in family-friendly elements like the cubbies in the drop zone. An awkward entry was converted into a home office with a view and the island is the perfect place to hang before dinner.

When the remodel was complete the home was sold for 4 times what was paid for it.

WHOLE HOME REMODEL

Natural and Bright Kitchen + 3 Redesigned Bathrooms

The homeowners brought us in to update the original early 2000’s kitchen into something bright and modern. We also remodeled 3 bathrooms and their laundry room.

The Process

The original kitchen layout had an awkward pantry in the corner that broke up the countertop workspaces. The pantry was removed and replaced with lower and upper cabinets and beautiful Cambria quartz countertop that extended along the back wall of the redesigned kitchen. The custom pantry cabinet was installed in the dining room to make up for the one that was lost.

All three bathrooms received new tile, cabinets, hardware and fixtures. The laundry room went from side by side washer and dryer units to stacked giving the homeowners cabinet storage, a countertop workspace, and a lovely undermount sink.

ESSEX WHOLE HOME RENOVATION

English Tudor with Good Bones Gets a Makeover

A Tudor-style home that was designed with an English feel was in need of an update. Craft Design’s owners, pride themselves on working hard and improving the city of Essex which both love dearly. Finding this home was perfect for their big family. The original owner of this beautiful post-medieval style home was no longer able to keep up with the home’s maintenance. A whole home renovation was the ticket to make everything modern and still be true to the bones of the house.

Open Concept Floorplan Perfect for Entertaining

Starting with the home’s exterior we created a more formal entry by adding a deck with a wide landing. The perfect spot for a morning coffee. A new solid mahogany front door with leaded glass was added for period-appropriate detail. The front of the house kept the decorative half-timbering but was painted to match the rest of the exterior trim.

Inside the rooms were small and separated, not ideal for entertaining and spending time with friends and family. Craft Design’s in-house Architect and Design Team created a new floor plan that was more appropriate for the family’s lifestyle. The new floor plan flipped the kitchen and the dining room. It also opened up the dining room by removing a wall between it and the living room. The newly enlarged space meant that there was room for a big beautiful island in the kitchen.

The upstairs got a complete update too. It originally had 3 bedrooms and one bathroom on the second floor, but by today’s standards, a home of this size was missing a master suite. We moved some of the rooms around and ended with a final design showing us 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms upstairs. A successful whole home renovation indeed!
