Essex Kitchen and Whole Home Renovation

Essex Kitchen and Whole Home Renovation

a Space for Guests that you can be proud of

The Problem:

Our clients were dealing with a chilly three-season space abutting their kitchen. They wanted to increase the functionality and extend their kitchen for hosting large gatherings. They also had a 1,200-square-foot guest wing of their home that wasn’t functioning well for family and guests staying with them.

The Solution:

Working closely with our clients, we identified their pain points and developed a scope of work that aligned with their vision and budget for the project. The guest wing renovation focused heavily on relocating all the walls on the interior of the space to allow optimal flow and functionality for their guests.

We optimized space for three luxurious bathrooms, two large bedrooms, and a dedicated laundry space, including custom cabinetry with adequate storage and working area. This was achieved with multiple structural changes and total re-plumbing and rewiring of the home.

In the kitchen extension, we raised the ceiling, insulated the concrete slab, and centered the space around a custom island with large granite countertop overhangs on three sides to make entertaining a breeze. To take full advantage of the water views and optimize natural light, we replaced a small french door and small windows with a large three-panel Marvin slider.

Adjacent to the kitchen, the mudroom area featured a custom bench and fully functional walk-in pantry.

a clients guest get the views they deserve

The Problem:

Our client owned a beautiful home with breathtaking views. Unfortunately, the guest house did not offer guests or other family members a second bedroom. To offer comfort and privacy to our client’s guests, we needed the floor plan to work harder.

The Solution:

Collaborating with our clients and partners, our team thoughtfully designed a new layout with breathtaking views for our client’s third floor to meet their criteria and function properly for their guests. The solution included a built-in nook featuring a queen-sized bed, drawers for storage, and a stunning view for guests to wake up to.

Additional work included a custom steel railing, added lighting, remote light switches, and paint throughout.

The Process

The existing space was inefficient and covered in dated wallpaper. We started by removing the windows, reframing the openings, and replacing with a modern double glazed Marvin window. After the paneling and cabinetry was hand-built in our studio, they were brought to the home for installation.

We guided the design via 3D renderings to ensure the finished product met and surpassed our clients expectations, while aiding in lighting selections and color coordination.

The homeowners wanted an indoor living space that could easily transition into an outdoor living space when the weather was nice. Our solution was tri and bi-fold doors that slid open completely giving way to nature on two sides. The room can be heated in colder months and cooled in warmer months. The deck’s gas firepit has a dedicated line making smores outside under the trees always an option.

The homeowners wanted to expand their useable outdoor living space. Originally the 14′ x 14′ deck didn’t provide much room for dining, lounging and grilling. Now the two different deck spaces provide so much more outdoor living space for family and friends. The cable railing lends a modern, airy look with less maintenance than wood railings.

SUNROOM ADDITION

A Full Bath + Home Office Retreat

Our homeowners were thinking ahead. They created a master suite upstairs in this spectacular attic conversion, knowing they are going to want their aging parents to live with them in the future.  The renovation created enough space for a king sized bed, two built-in bedside bookcases, and a beautiful walk in shower. Right now it’s being used as an office for a historian, but the possibilities are endless for this eclectic, modern remodel.

Composite Deck Addition

Outdoor living space is a high priority in Essex. Even more so, when you live by the water. We were contacted by homeowners who wanted to replace their existing deck. They needed something that was very low maintenance and that’s why we choose composite decking.

The Process

For the new design we enlarged the original decks square footage, giving us multiple seating arrangements. We installed not one, but two fire features, a Malm exterior fireplace and a stone gas fireplace in the seating area.

In order to keep the deck low maintenance, our design team used Zuri decking product. This composite material has a 25 year scratch & color warranty. To create an almost seamless view of the water we installed a stainless cable railing system.

A few other key design features were the gas lamps, no more light bulbs to replace, the ipe roof for the gazebo, and the LED-lighted steps.
